Working With Us | Process for Dynasty Builders

How we work with dynasty builders. A three-phase process: Clarity & Architecture, Codex & Governance Design, Implementation & Coordination. For incorporated business owners thinking in generations.

Why this is important

  • This is not a product. It's a process that integrates with your existing team.
  • We coordinate with your CPA, lawyer, and notary. We don't replace them.
  • Three phases: Clarity & Architecture, Codex & Governance Design, Implementation & Coordination.

Summary

How we work with dynasty builders. A three-phase process that integrates capital, structure, and governance. We coordinate with your existing professionals, not replace them.

This is not a product. It's a process that integrates with your existing team.

We don't replace your CPA, lawyer, or notary. We coordinate with them to integrate capital, structure, and governance thinking. This is orchestration, not replacement.

Our Role

We act as the coordinator and integrator. We help you see how capital, structure, and governance work together. We facilitate conversations with your existing professionals. We don't do their jobs, and they don't do ours.

The Three Phases

This process has three phases. Not everyone needs all three. Some clients come with clarity and just need coordination. Others need help with all phases. We customize based on where you are.

Phase 1: Clarity & Architecture

The first step is understanding what you have, where it lives, and how it works together (or doesn't).

What We Do

  • Capital mapping: Map where capital lives (OpCo, HoldCo, personal accounts, insurance)
  • Purpose segmentation: Clarify what each pool is for (lifestyle, growth, legacy)
  • Tax friction analysis: Identify where tax inefficiency exists and quantify the cost
  • Structural diagnosis: Assess current structures (trusts, freezes, insurance, IPPs)
  • Founder transition assessment: Understand where you are in the builder-to-steward transition

Deliverables

  • Dynasty Capital Map: Visual representation of where capital lives and what it does
  • Stewardship Gap Analysis: Identify gaps between current state and desired continuity
  • Written Summary: Non-legal, non-tax advice summary of findings and recommendations

Timeline

Typically 4-6 weeks, depending on complexity and coordination with existing professionals.

What This Is Not

This is not legal or tax advice. We identify issues and opportunities, then coordinate with your CPA and lawyer to implement solutions. We facilitate, they execute.

Phase 2: Codex & Governance Design

Once we understand the capital and structure, we help design the governance systems that will manage it across generations.

What We Do

  • Family Codex development: Document values, principles, and decision rules (what matters, how decisions are made, who decides what)
  • Capital philosophy: Define how capital should be managed (conservative, growth-oriented, etc.)
  • Risk boundaries: Establish clear limits on what can and cannot be done
  • Distribution philosophy: Define when and how capital flows (lifestyle, education, emergencies, legacy)
  • Role clarity: Clarify roles for founder, next generation, advisors
  • Governance rhythms: Design regular review and decision processes

Deliverables

  • Family Codex: Living document that captures values, principles, and decision rules
  • Governance Framework: Structure for how decisions are made and reviewed
  • Advisor Coordination Memo: Guide for how advisors work together on your behalf

Timeline

Typically 6-12 weeks, depending on family complexity and engagement. This is iterative work that evolves over time.

Living Documents

The Family Codex and Governance Framework are living documents. They evolve as the family evolves. We review and update them regularly.

Phase 3: Implementation & Coordination

Once clarity exists and governance is designed, we coordinate implementation with your existing professionals.

What We Do

  • Coordinate with CPA: Facilitate conversations about RDTOH, CDA, passive income thresholds, extraction strategies
  • Coordinate with lawyer/notary: Facilitate conversations about trusts, freezes, wills, shareholder agreements
  • Investment and insurance alignment: Ensure investment and insurance strategies align with capital and governance goals
  • Asset location strategy: Determine optimal location for assets (OpCo, HoldCo, personal, insurance)
  • Extraction sequencing: Plan how and when capital flows from corporate to personal
  • Documentation: Help create Investment Policy Statements (IPS), decision logs, and coordination protocols

Ongoing Coordination

Implementation isn't a one-time event. We coordinate ongoing:

  • Annual reviews of capital, structure, and governance
  • Regular coordination calls with your CPA, lawyer, and notary
  • Updates to Family Codex and Governance Framework as family evolves
  • Adjustments to investment and insurance strategies as goals change

Timeline

Implementation happens over months and years. Coordination is ongoing. We review and adjust as circumstances change.

We Don't Replace

We don't do your CPA's job. We don't do your lawyer's job. We don't do your notary's job. We coordinate with them to ensure capital, structure, and governance work together. This is orchestration, not replacement.

How This Differs

Most advisors focus on one thing: investments, or insurance, or taxes. We integrate all three with governance thinking.

Traditional Advisors

  • Focus on products (mutual funds, insurance, etc.)
  • Focus on returns (beat the market, maximize performance)
  • Work in isolation (don't coordinate with your CPA/lawyer)
  • Think in quarters (short-term performance)

Our Approach

  • Focus on systems (capital, structure, governance)
  • Focus on efficiency (tax efficiency, structural efficiency, continuity)
  • Work in coordination (orchestrate with your CPA/lawyer/notary)
  • Think in generations (long-term continuity)

What We Don't Do

To be clear about boundaries:

  • We don't provide legal advice: We coordinate with your lawyer/notary, but we don't draft documents or provide legal opinions.
  • We don't provide tax advice: We coordinate with your CPA, but we don't prepare returns or provide tax opinions.
  • We don't promise performance: We don't guarantee returns or promise to beat the market.
  • We don't replace professionals: We don't do your CPA's job, your lawyer's job, or your notary's job.
  • We don't provide therapy: We help design governance systems, but we don't provide family counseling.
  • We don't work in isolation: We coordinate with your existing team, not replace it.

We orchestrate. We integrate. We coordinate. We don't replace.
